Winter is coming....

Well that's it, the season is coming to a close and we are going into winter mode. With lots of amazing groups coming in this past year and a whole host of new faces coming through the gates here at Round Ponds it has been our best year so far. But before I go into throwback mode i will let you know how October and the start of November have been for us.

In a word busy!!! With the weather being on our side (on the majority) we have had the busiest autumn since we opened, lots of groups, parties and individuals all making the most of a dry Oct & Nov. The last uniform group of the season came for a raft building session at the start of the month, A bunch of brave souls taking to the water and having a brilliant time as did we.

Other groups we had in were the Delamere Park youth club, who had booked an evening bush craft session, so with marshmallows at the ready and the fire keeping everyone toasty we ran through some fire lighting, followed by hot chocolate, smores and finished off with some riddles camp fire games. Chaps (Cheshire Autism Practical Support) also returned for some climbing activities, with everyone who took part doing amazingly well with lots smiles and enthusiasm. In Nov we had Cuddington & Sandiway under 9's football team for a team building and fun activity day, with the aim to get the children talking and communicating with each other.

But these weren't the only bookings we had with birthday parties and climbing sessions over the course of the month, and we have had a brilliant time with everyone that has come through the gates.

On a personal note we have been having our own adventures as well as helping other people have theirs. I (Joey) ended up in Dublin for Halloween working for UK Bungee at an event with the aim of stopping young people setting off fireworks and building bonfires, the event was a success with a bungee jump and zip-wire on offer as well as much more to keep people entertained.

Bob led us back into North Wales to climb some more mountains and do a brilliant ridge walk with some fun scrambling on the way down and we have managed to fit in some time in the lakes for some mtb rides.

So what next? Well we still have some brave souls booked in for a birthday party, and a climbing session booked in for Dec. We have lots of winter maintenance jobs to do to get the site ready for next year. But the time has also come to go selling Christmas trees and other winter work to see us through until spring.

So if you are in the forest pop by to say hello, other-wise this is our last update of the season, have a cracking winter and we will see you all in the Spring.
